Octopus Device

The Octopus device is used instead of placing the patient on cardiopulmonary bypass during a routine operation. The Octopus device is utilized to operate on the heart doing bypass surgery while the heart is beating. Utilization of this device when appropriate has many benefits. Its main benefit to the patient is reduced risk, lower complication rate, and decreased length of stay in the hospital. The lower complication rates include fewer strokes, kidney failure, and pneumonia. It also reduces the utilization of blood transfusion products and length of stay by approximately twenty (20) percent. For further information, please contact our offices.
